One of these days, I will get to the point where I can photograph people. Flowers, raindrops, and sunsets are all nice, but people are what I consider the hardest thing to photograph. It takes skill and patience. Lots and lots of patience, on the part of the photographer, and the subject being photographed.

I've spent countless hours begging friends, "Wait, you're in the perfect position! Don't move, I have to take a picture of this!" Of course, not a one of them was willing to sit still for 15 minutes while making minute position adjustments at my request. ("Tilt your chin up a bit. No, the OTHER way!") Not that I could do so myself, either, had I been asked.

I find that the photographs of people are best if they are candid. That smile, the way they look when they're talking... the things that otherwise go unseen. Yet have the possibility of being captured for all time, in a photograph. Not having a DSLR severely limits my options, but I hope to do that kind of photography some day. The kind that tells a story without words.
